Natalie Portman's Post Baby Style

During the first year of motherhood, most women neglect their style ritual in favour of comfortable clothing and sensible footwear.

But Natalie Portman has revealed having a baby has had the opposite effect.

While she once spent her days wearing baggy jeans and t-shirts, giving birth to son Aleph has motivated the 30-year-old actress to make more of an effort.

The actress told WWD: 'I’ve been trying to look more like a lady recently.

'I used to be happy in a T-shirt and sweatpants, and now I feel like I want to make myself a little more grown up — now that I’m a mom.'

And her style inspiration?

She said: 'My grandmother will not leave the house without perfect hair and perfect makeup and her splash of perfume.'

Natalie, who gave birth last year, has since adopted a more elegant style. As the face of Christian Dior perfume, she also has access to an enviable designer wardrobe.

Wearing a stunning vintage Dior ballgown, Natalie looked the epitome of old-fashioned Hollywood glamour at the Oscars earlier this year.

Natalie Portman & Baby Aleph

At nine months old, Natalie Portman's baby son Aleph is getting cuter by the day.

The youngster was spotted out with his famous mother yesterday as they ventured to a market in Orange County, California.

Aleph looked extremely cute in a pair of striped dungarees while Natalie, 30, kept it casual in jeans and a blue top.

The Black Swan star was seen chatting on her phone as she strolled around in the sunshine.

She completed her dressed down look with scraped back hair and hid her make-up free face behind a pair of large shades.

Last month it was reported Natalie married fiance and father of Aleph, Benjamin Millepied, in a secret ceremony.

Although the couple has not confirmed their marriage, the pair have both been seen sporting wedding bands. Natalie and Benjamin first sparked rumours they had tied the knot in secret when they were both seen wearing rings at the Oscars.

The couple fell in love while making Black Swan and announced their engagement and pregnancy in December 2010.

A jeweller friend of choreographer Millepied recently admitted she had custom made matching rings for them.

Jamie Wolf said she created two diamond rings for Portman, made to fit on either side of her engagement ring, and a platinum band for Millepied.

Portman has taken some time off this year to raise her son, who was born last June.

However, she is said to be lining up her next roles following her maternity leave,  and they both involve director Terence Malick.

Natalie is the latest to join the growing all-star cast(s) of Malick's two new films - Knight of Cups and Lawless - that he's shooting back-to-back this summer and autumn starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Ryan Gosling, and Rooney Mara.
