For better or worse, Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood, Farrah Abraham and Catelynn Lowell have changed the face of MTV.
Viewers first got to know the four women during the first season of the popular reality series 16 and Pregnant in 2009. They soon graduated to Teen Mom, which showcased the struggles and triumphs of young, unwed mothers.
On Friday, the network confirmed exclusively to Us Weekly that Teen Mom's upcoming fourth season will be its last.
"They will continue to be a part of our MTV family, and we're thankful to these brave young women for sharing their stories and helping to make a positive impact on teen pregnancy prevention." Teen Mom 2, starring Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, Kailyn Lowry and Leah Messer, will continue to air on MTV.
Stepping out of the spotlight will be a welcome change for Bookout, 20, Portwood, 21, Abraham, 19, and Lowell, 19.
"They're relieved," a source tells Us. "It helped all of them, being on the show, but they're all ready to move onto other things without the cameras always around."
Teen Mom's fourth and final season is expected to air later this summer, though no official premiere date has been announced. The fourth season of 16 and Pregnant premieres Tuesday, March 27.
