The 56-year-old looked the very picture of a devoted father as he played with his daughter Lucia on a carousel in Santa Monica yesterday.
The pair appeared to be enjoying a relaxing weekend together.
Mel was dressed down in jeans, a black jacket, and a black baseball cap.
Lucia looked adorable in jeans, a pink long-sleeved top, and a white T-shirt.
Mel made sure Lucia was safe as she clung onto the pole above her steed's head.
Mel was awarded joint legal and physical custody of his daughter with ex Oksana Grigorieva last year. Under the terms of the settlement, Grigorieva and Lucia are allowed to remain in the Sherman Oaks house in which they they currently live, and Mel is allowed time alone with Lucia.
When Lucia turns 18, the Sherman Oaks property will be sold and the money will be placed in a trust for her.
Gibson has promised to pay Lucia the same inheritance that his other seven children are set to receive.
The star was sentenced to three years' probation and was given a glowing review earlier this month by the same judge who is handling Lindsay Lohan’s case,for attending counselling and doing double the community service required of him.
The recovering alcoholic has been working with Mending Kids International, and he previously said working with the organisation had helped him realise what the important things in life really are.
